Once upon a time, long ago, there was a land where people valued time so much that they used it as money. In this place, time was the currency people traded for goods and services.
The wise and wealthy were those who managed their lives so that they had a great deal of discretionary time every day. But the richest people in all the kingdom were the very old and the very young - for they had the most time of all. |

From the moment they learned to talk, children learned to respect the value of time. They were taught to manage their time very carefully and were rewarded when they saved time. "Time is something you can never get back, once you spend it", their parents warned.
Each person knew that his time could come to an end at any moment, and this increased its value even more. |

Sometimes, people would exchange some of their time for goods or services. But time was so valuable that people measured it out by the minute in the marketplace. The return demanded for even ten minutes of time was very high.
Both parties gave serious deliberation prior to these transactions. One desired time so much that he was willing to give rich items of great value in exchange. The other party knew that once he had given away some of his time, it would never be recovered in kind. |

The queen of the kingdom was a very wise and loving woman. People said that she had learned how to manage time so well that she could actually create time for every other person in the realm. But before anyone could even thank her, she was always off helping someone else.
Each time she helped anyone in the kingdom, she became more gifted in the art of creating time. The villagers whispered to one another that the queen was blessed with magical powers, because she understood exactly how each person needed to be helped, even before they asked. |
