By Roberta Dolson

Stress got you down? Want to increase your energy and productivity, eliminate back and neck pain, lose weight, and feel and look years younger?

Learn to smile under stress and mean it, with these quick and easy fitness tips.

Issue #1: The Stress of Sitting
Sitting in a chair places 35% more pressure on the lower back than standing. In fact, Most people who work in professional "sit down" jobs, experience back problems at some time or another.

And in addition to aches and pains, back fatigue can cause anxiety, moodiness, diminished efficiency, even depression.

The Quick and Easy Solution
  1. Make a point of standing up several times each hour. Some people find that it helps to designate a specific cue, like the ringing of the telephone, to remind themselves to stand up and stretch.

  2. Breathe deeply each time you stand up. This will keep you relaxed and energized.

  3. Pin up an image of a relaxing scene-- like your favorite beach or a mountain lake. Close your eyes and imagine the scene several times a day. Positive visualizations have been shown to change body chemistry and reduce stress.

  4. If you work in an informal office, you might consider investing in an exercise ball and keeping it in your office. The exercise ball forces us to be conscious of keeping our backs straight and tightening our tummies. You can even it as a chair.

  5. Go for a walk during your lunch hour.

  6. Listen to relaxing music while moving around your workspace.
Make a conscious contribution to your well-being today!
